Admissions Process

Admissions for the 2013-2014 school year is currently closed.  Applications were due January 20, 2013. Please contact the Admission Director at admissions@blessedsacramentdc.org before submitting an online application.  There is NO FEE TO APPLY.

Open Houses:

As part of the admissions process, open houses are held in November. Parents of prospective students are provided a tour of the school and classrooms and have the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about school programs. A general introductory meeting with the principal is held during each open house.

Open House schedule:

  • Kindergarten applicants-  November 6, 2012-  9am-11am
  • All Applicants- November 13, 2012 - 9am-11am

If you were unable to attend a scheduled open house,  tours are available by appointment on Wednesdays and Fridays at 8:35am. Please email admissions@blessedsacramentdc.org  to schedule a tour. 

For students who wish to visit the school, shadowing appointments can also be scheduled by emailing admissions@blessedsacramentdc.org.

Application packets are distributed at the open house. Applications can also be completed online.

 

Required Documents:

Required documents for Kindergarten and 1st grade applicants are:

Required documents for rising 2nd - 8th graders are:

  • The admission application (no fee to apply)
  • A copy of the student's birth certificate
  • A copy of the student's baptismal certificate (if Catholic)
  • A student recommendation completed by a current teacher
  • Copies of transcripts (report cards) and any standardized testing for the current and previous two academic years (e.g. K, 1st and 2nd).  A transcript request form must be completed and given to the applicant's current school.

 

Testing:

Once we have received a completed application file, 1st - 8th grade applicants are required to take a placement test in order to complete the admission process.  Testing will take place on the mornings of February 9, and February 23, 2013. There is a testing fee of $65.

After Kindergarten applicants have been accepted, they are required to take a readiness screening test to help determine their skill and ability levels.  Testing takes place in the spring. The results of the screening do not affect the student's enrollment status. There is a testing fee of $65.

 

Registration and Re-registration:

Siblings of current students are accepted before other applicants. Sibling registration forms are due by October 12, 2012. Sibling applications are due by December 14, 2012.

In order to get an accurate picture of enrollment figures for the following school year, we begin the re-registration process for current students in January. There is a non-refundable re-registration fee of $200 per student. This fee is separate from tuition.

 

Admission:

Sibling applicants are notified of admission status by letter by mid January. All other applicants are notified of admission status by letter by mid March.
