Principal's Corner
Dear Parents,
And so it ends…at least until we do it all again next year!
I want to take a moment to express thanks for what was (at least from my perspective) a great year. Every school and every school year has ups and downs, but the parents and the students and the teachers really worked well together to make this a successful school year for the children. Last year, I was really just getting to know the lay of the land and the players involved. This year I made some changes that increased the amount of time that we could spend on instruction. As we move forward, I’ll continue to try to find ways to make a great school even better. All this is possible because of the great teaching and other staff and the tremendous support of the parent community. So, thank you to all of the adults that make our work with the children of the school community so successful.
At the end of the year Mass this morning, I did give the children some summer homework. I just wanted to highlight the points in case your child mentioned it.
1) There may be math packets or book reports assigned by the teacher (depending on the level of your child). I did remind the children that it is OKAY (in fact ENCOURAGED!) that they read other books over the summer as well.
2) I reiterated Fr. John’s request to make every effort to attend weekly Mass. Don’t take a vacation from God during the summer.
3) Be nice…to your parents, your siblings, your friends. Being nice doesn’t cost anything and it’s amazing sometimes what you get in return.
4) Do something new. Learn how to do a back flip, go to a new museum, volunteer to help a neighbor take care of their yard. Come back to school after the summer having tried something you’ve never tried before.
5) Come back to us at the end of the summer ready for another great year.
I hope everyone has a blessed and joyful summer. We look forward to seeing everyone on August 30.
Faithfully,
Chris Kelly
