Mulan is here!
What a great story (no I have never seen it before). Last night, I was fortunate enough to enjoy a dress rehearsal sneak preview of the play. We've come a long way, baby! We have always prided ourselves on our 8th grade plays (and we treasure it as a part of our school traditions) but over the years, we have been able to enhance the experience: new lights, new curtains, and new sound (all with the generous support of the Home and School Association). Newer, more portable technology (mikes and special effects) that we bring in for the plays also enhances the experience and, hopefully, means fewer glitches. Put all of that together, as well as the awesome cast that we have for this year's play and Mulan is really a treat.
I was impressed with the enthusiasm and the obvious commitment to the performance that the students have. The director, Maria O'Connor, is incredibly talented, creative, and patient, and she has done an amazing job working with our students. While Mulan, the dragon, and the cricket are all exceptional, the play is filled with strong performances across the cast. Please make an effort to come up tonight or tomorrow night. I promise you will be both impressed by the performances and brought to laughter by the comedic chops of our troupe.
