What is the BSS UE? (Is it for my family?!)
“UE” refers to the school’s Uniform Exchange, sponsored by the Blessed Sacrament Home and School Association. It is for anyone and everyone who attends BSS!
How does the UE work?
So glad you asked—because this service could not happen without your participation!
Please bring gently-used BSS clothing (see below) that your child has outgrown to a designated Uniform Exchange, and hand it to one of the volunteers. Kindly do not drop off items at any other time. It is helpful if you bring items in a bag that you can leave behind with the clothes. The volunteers will go through your bag to inspect and count the items; you are then welcome to “shop” for needed items, exchanging up to the number of things you brought in.
If you don’t have any items to exchange or you need more items, you may purchase them (by cash or check payable to “BSS HSA”) for $5 per item.
When is the UE held?
The UE is typically held twice per month: on a Monday from 2:30 – 3:30 p.m. and on a Wednesday from 7:45 – 8:30 a.m. In addition, special UEs are held during new family events and on Back-to-School Nights. Because dates and times are subject to change, please check the HSA Corner in the BSS Weekly or the HSA email messages for the most-up-to-date schedule.
Where is the UE held?
Inventory is stored—and sales are conducted—in the HSA Closet. Enter through the school’s main lobby, go downstairs to the lowest level, and head past the music room. Keep going to the very end of the hallway.
What items are accepted for exchange/donation?
UE accepts any uniform item your child wears to school, especially those things listed below. There is a small catch: ITEMS MUST BE CLEAN/LAUNDERED, FREE FROM STAINS, HOLES, ODORS, PET HAIR, AND EXCESSIVE FADING. Please check items carefully before bringing them to the UE.
