All k-8th graders are invited to participate. Each year we have a lot of fun singing and dancing and putting on a great show!

Based on the Oscar-winning film and hit Broadway musical, Shrek is possibly the funniest musical in BS history. Join everyone’s favorite ogre as he leads a cast of fairytale misfits on an adventure to rescue a princess and find true acceptance.
Mrs. Maria O’Connor is thrilled to continue directing at Blessed Sacrament, working alongside Dr. Joy Stevans. Mrs. O’Connor also teaches theater at Imagination Stage, and is seen onstage and off at ArtStream, the F. Scott Fitzgerald Theater, Silver Spring Stage and Joy of Motion. She is passionate about including the students in the creative process and making it a fun and fulfilling experience for all. Mrs. O’Connor’s goals are to teach theater skills while fostering growth in creativity, confidence, teamwork and friendship.
k-4th graders can participate in the choir, rehearsing 2-3 times and performing songs with the cast during the show! Cost is $30. Register in January.
5-7th graders can participate as a group role in the cast! They will be in costume, dancing and singing onstage and will be an integral part of the production. We’re happy to have you if it’s your first time or you’re a seasoned performer. Cost is $40. Rehearsals will be on select Tuesdays and Thursdays January until the show. Parents will be asked to chaperone or provide snacks for a rehearsal their student attends. No auditions necessary. Register by January 10th.
8th graders will take on the named roles, solos, and leadership positions in the production. All 8th graders must participate either onstage or offstage as they desire. Auditions are on Jan 14th, and rehearsals are Tuesdays and Thursdays until the show. Parents will be asked to chaperone or provide snacks for a rehearsal their student attends. Cost is $50. Register by January 10th, for positions on and offstage.

The play is a fantastic way to make new friends, try something new, and create something as a team that you can be incredibly proud of! We encourage everyone to give it a try!
