BSS‛ Spectacular Six!
By Catherine Coccaro and Emma Hopkins, 5th Grade
Have you heard? A little birdie told us all 6 kindergarten teachers went to BSS as kids! I know what you are thinking, this is crazy! I think it is amazing that they loved our school so much that they would come back! Did you know that even though we are the same school some of our traditions have changed over the years? When I heard from Mrs. Drant that her favorite tradition was the mini olympics. I had no idea what that was. Until she told me that it was a time when everyone got to represent their own country. I thought that was pretty cool. Also Mrs. Sheeler told me that there was a Walk for the Homeless. I think that would be nice to have. Then, Mrs. Belford told me that she loved the musical. I thought it was like the play that we have now. But no, every class got to sing a song. Also when the kindergarten teachers went to school there were CYO teams. All of them participated in them. The one sport they all did was basketball. When Mrs. Belford and Mrs. Drant came they both came in 3rd and left in 8th along with Mrs. Sheeler but she had started in kindergarten. All of the teachers' favorite grade was the grade they came in. Mrs. Drant liked 3rd grade because they had chicks as a class pet. Mrs. Belford loved 3rd grade because of her teacher. Mrs. Sheeler liked kindergarten because of her kindergarten teacher because she was fun. Even though they were in school they had to have favorite subjects. Mrs. Sheeler liked language arts, Mrs. Belford liked Art and Science (mainly earth science), and Mrs. Drant liked LA and Art. But I think we all think the most important question is why and who inspired them to become a BSS teacher. They all said very meaningful answers like the community and it feeling like home. The thing I like most about the teachers coming back is because that means if you leave there is always a place to come back to! Take it away Catherine!
Ok, ok! Emma that was some awesome information on Ms.Belford, Ms.Drant, and Ms Sheeler but now I’m going to tell you about Ms. Greene, Ms. McCaffrey and Mrs. Evans!
First, Ms. McCaffrey started attending BSS in 2005 and ended in 2013! Next, Ms. McCaffrey loved Mrs. Clifford because she made her feel so confident! Ms. McCaffrey's favorite grade was second because of First Communion and Reconciliation. Her favorite event was Pioneer Days because she loved the experience. She also played CYO basketball and soccer. Mrs. Weshler was even one of her coaches! Her favorite subject was math. She was inspired to come back as a teacher because of the community! Next, Ms. Greene went to BSS kindergarten through 8th and graduated in 2010. She loved Mrs. Grantham because she was so funny! Her favorite grade was kindergarten! She loved to do the Greg Gannon canned food drive and Lessons and Carols! She played CYO soccer and basketball. She also loved social studies! And what inspired her to come back was the community and Mrs. Grantham! Mrs. Evans joined us this year as a teaching assistant. She aspires to become a teacher and returned to Blessed Sacrament because of the community. She enjoys spending time with her K2 students and Mrs. Drant. Thank you to all the amazing teachers who came back to share their love of BSS with all of us!!
